Biography

He obtained a PhD in Environmental Science at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium) in 2006, after graduating as a Mining and Geotechnical Engineer in 1999.
He is working for 20 years on radioactive waste disposal, first focusing on radionuclide mobility and transport in geological clay formations, but now also dealing with aspects from waste characterization and conditioning, radionuclide release in the engineered barrier system up to system and performance assessments including the assessment of waste management strategies and their impact on final disposal solutions.
He is the current head of the Expert Group Waste & Disposal and the Deputy Director of the Institute for Environment, Health & Safety at the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre, SCK•CEN.
He is the current Chair of the EURADScience network.
