Biography

Michel Maschi has been appointed SVP Engineering and Generation of EDF Research and Development since April 2015. Deputy of EDF Group R&D Director, he has the responsibility of the Nuclear R&D program and the teams and laboratories in charge of studies, development of methods and simulation, testing activities to support the existing Nuclear Fleet safety, performance, prepare the life extension but also prepare the future of Nuclear. Before as EDF Research and Development’s international and partnership operations he was in charge of the activities and partnerships of EDF’s international centers outside France (including Germany, UK, Poland, US and China) and their contribution to EDF Group R&D strategy. He spent three years in the US as Executive Vice President of Unistar Nuclear Energy, a wholly-owned EDF subsidiary, where he was in charge of new project development. With strong experience in the nuclear sector, Michel Maschi managed the Blayais nuclear power plant in the southwest of France for five years, which has four 900-MW units and 1,250 employees. He has also participated in the launch and development of several nuclear engineering projects in France and abroad. Over the past twenty five years, Michel Maschi has held a series of high-responsibility posts in engineering design as well as in the preparation for the launch and steering of projects in the engineering and generation sector in France, in China & Slovakia. Michel Maschi is a graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique and Mines-ParisTech.
